أَقولُI say وَقَدand already صَدَّturned away عَنّيfrom me اِمرُؤٌa man
أَقولُ وَقَد صَدَّ عَنّي اِمرُؤٌ
وَماand not كُنتُI was بِالصَدِّof being shunned مِنهُby him جَديرُdeserving
وَما كُنتُ بِالصَدِّ مِنهُ جَديرُ
I say, when a man has turned away from me,
I speak, though one has turned from me,
Though I did not deserve to be shunned by him:
Yet was I not with turning worthy of him.
كَماjust as لَمdid not أَرىI see النَفعَthe benefit فيin وَصلِهِcompanionship with him
كَما لَم أَرى النَفعَ في وَصلِهِ
كَذَلِكَlikewise هُجرانُهُhis estrangement لاnot يَضيرُharms
كَذَلِكَ هُجرانُهُ لا يَضيرُ
Just as I saw no benefit in his companionship,
Even as I have not seen profit in his love,
So his estrangement does me no harm.
So is his estrangement nothing troublesome.
