Have you seen how he appeared to slay us—
Have you seen how they set about
That young gazelle, that full moon, that bough?
To slay me, the cheek, the moon, the bough,
بِبَياضِwith the whiteness of وَجهٍa face مَعwith عُيونِeyes of ظِباgazelles
بِسَوادِهاwith their blackness فَتَكامَلَand so became complete الحُسنُbeauty
With the whiteness of his face and gazelles' eyes
With a face white as jasmine petals,
In their blackness—thus beauty was complete.
While jet black are their eyes - beauty wells!
