إِذهَب إِلى بَيتِ عَذرَه

إِذهَب إِلى بَيتِ عَذرَه

وَمَتِّعِ النَفسَ قَطرَه

وَمَتِّعِ النَفسَ قَطرَه

Go to the house of ʿAdhra,

And delight your soul with a drop.

وَاِصرِف مِنَ الهَمِ يَوماً

وَاِصرِف مِنَ الهَمِ يَوماً

وَاِطفِر إِلى اللَهوِ طَفرَه

وَاِطفِر إِلى اللَهوِ طَفرَه

And spend a day away from care,

And leap toward pleasure with a bound.

في مَجلِسٍ فَوقَ نَهرٍ

في مَجلِسٍ فَوقَ نَهرٍ

فيهِ لِعَينَيكَ قُرَّه

فيهِ لِعَينَيكَ قُرَّه

In a gathering-place above a river,

Where your eyes find delight.

تَخالُ كُلَّ مَليحٍ

تَخالُ كُلَّ مَليحٍ

قَد صَفَّ في الوَجهِ طُرَّه

قَد صَفَّ في الوَجهِ طُرَّه

You would think every fair one

Had arranged a forelock upon his face,

مِمَن يُجيبُ بِشَرطٍ

مِمَن يُجيبُ بِشَرطٍ

أَو مَن يَجودُ بِمَرَّه

أَو مَن يَجودُ بِمَرَّه

Among those who respond on terms,

Or those who give freely at once.

وَقَد عَلا جانِبَيهِ

وَقَد عَلا جانِبَيهِ

وَقَد تَجاوَزَ قَدرَه

وَقَد تَجاوَزَ قَدرَه

And it has overtopped both its banks,

And has exceeded its bounds.

وَالدَهرُ يَعمَلُ في كُل

وَالدَهرُ يَعمَلُ في كُل

لِ مَوضِعٍ فيهِ سِرَّه

لِ مَوضِعٍ فيهِ سِرَّه

And time works, in every

Place within it, its mystery.

يَسقي رِياضَ جِنانٍ

يَسقي رِياضَ جِنانٍ

يَرنو بِأَحداقِ زَهرَه

يَرنو بِأَحداقِ زَهرَه

It waters the meadows of gardens,

Gazing with the eyes of its blossoms.

كَأَنَّهُ رَقمُ وَشيٍ

كَأَنَّهُ رَقمُ وَشيٍ

بِصُفرَةٍ وَبِحُمرَه

بِصُفرَةٍ وَبِحُمرَه

As though it were patterned brocade,

In yellow and in red.

كَأَنَّها حينَ مُجَّت

كَأَنَّها حينَ مُجَّت

في الكَأسِ ريقَةُ خَمرَه

في الكَأسِ ريقَةُ خَمرَه

As though it, when spat out

Into the cup, were the spittle of wine.
