أَماdo ... not? عَلِمَتknow عَيناكَyour two eyes إِنّيthat I أُحِبُّهاI love them
كَماjust as كُلُّevery مَعشوقٍbeloved عَليمٌaware بِعاشِقِof a lover
Do your eyes not know that I love them,
Do not my eyes make evident that I love her
As every beloved knows their lover?
As every lover knows well his passionate one?
أَلَمhave ... not? تَرَyou seen عَينيmy eye وَهيَwhile it تَسرُقُsteals نَظرَةًa glance
إِلَيهاtoward them عَلىin خَوفٍfear بِعَبرَةِwith a tear وامِقِof an ardent lover
Have you not seen my eye as it steals a glance
Have you not seen my eyes stealing a glance
Toward them, in fear, with an ardent lover's tear?
At her in fearful hope and flowing tears?
أَرانيI see myself سَأُبديI shall reveal حُبَّهُlove for him مُتَعَرِّضاًmaking advances
وَإِنand though لَمnot أَكُنI am فيin الحُبِّlove مِنهُfrom him بِواثِقِassured
I think I shall reveal my love for him, making advances,
Do I seem about to reveal my love to her
And though I am not assured of his love.
Though in love I am of her no confident?
