أَلحاظَ ذي فَرَحٍ بِالعَتبِ مَسرورِ
Do you not see the swaying narcissus glancing at us,

With the glances of one joyful, delighted by reproach?
With looks of joy and coquetry

As though its eyes, in the beauty of their form,
As if its dark eyes in the beauty of its form
Were oil vessels of gold amid petals of camphor.
Were kohl pencils in camphor leaves
كَأَنَّas though طَلَّfine dew النَدىthe dew فيهِon it لِمُبصِرِهِto one who beholds it

As though the fine dew on it, to one who beholds it,
As if the dew dripping on it for its observer
Were tears that welled from the eyelids of one forsaken.
Were tears welling from forsaken eyelids
