عَلِّليني بِمَوعِدٍ

وَاِمطُلي ما حَيِيتُ بِه

Console me with a promise,

Give me a date to long for

and put me off with it as long as I live;

And let me live a life longing for it

فَعَسى يَعثِرُ الزَما

فَعَسى يَعثِرُ الزَما

نُ بِبَختي فَيَنتَبِه

نُ بِبَختي فَيَنتَبِه

for perhaps Time will stumble

Perhaps time will trip upon my luck

upon my fortune and awaken.
