Beauty and charm have been united in

    a face carved from lovers.

There is languor in his eye; when it gazes,

it has lined his eyes with Harut's magic.

His ewer spouts the mixing water, as

a shooting star streaks out in pursuit of an ifrit,

onto yellow wine, which you would think

was mingled in the cask with crumbled musk.

The water's writing within it is a marvel,

like an engraving in a ruby ring-stone.
