    وَسَقَّتهُ أَجفاني بِسَحٍّ وَقاطِرِ

    And a sapling from among my loved ones I buried in the earth,

    And my eyelids watered it with torrents and drops;

    So it bore undying sorrow and regret,

    Which you reap for my heart with the hands of thoughts.

    O my soul's one and only branch,

    You have fallen, leaving my stem alone for one who would break it.

    And O Time, this is a deed you have done—

    Around its like my turns of fortune used to circle.
