وَموقَرَةٍ بِثِقلِ الماءِ جاءَت
تَهادىgliding gently فَوقَabove أَعناقِthe necks of الرِياحِthe winds
تَهادى فَوقَ أَعناقِ الرِياحِ
And a rain-cloud came, laden with the weight of water,
And a cloud laden with the weight of water came,
gliding gently above the necks of the winds.
Gliding above the necks of the winds.
فَجاءَتthen it came لَيلَهاthrough its night سَحّاًpouring rain وَوَبلاًand heavy rain
فَجاءَت لَيلَها سَحّاً وَوَبلاً
وَهَطلاًand streaming rain مِثلَlike أَفواهِthe mouths of الجِراحِthe wounds
وَهَطلاً مِثلَ أَفواهِ الجِراحِ
Then all that night it poured in torrents and pelting rain,
Then all night it poured in torrents and heavy rain,
in streaming downpours like the mouths of wounds.
And streaming showers, like the mouths of wounds.

As though its sky, when it appeared

Were gardens of violets, damp with dew,
with daisy blossoms opening among them.
Among which daisy blossoms had opened.
