أَلا رُبَّ يَومٍ بِالدُوَيرَةِ صالِحٍ

أَلا رُبَّ يَومٍ بِالدُوَيرَةِ صالِحٍ

فَكَيفَ بِيَومٍ بَعدَهُ لِيَ فاسِدِ

فَكَيفَ بِيَومٍ بَعدَهُ لِيَ فاسِدِ

Ah, many a fine day at al-Duwayra!

Then what of a day after it that goes ill for me?

صَلَلتُ بِها أُسقى سُلافَةَ خَمرَةٍ

صَلَلتُ بِها أُسقى سُلافَةَ خَمرَةٍ

بِكَفِّ غَزالٍ ذي جُفونٍ صَوائِدِ

بِكَفِّ غَزالٍ ذي جُفونٍ صَوائِدِ

I spent the day there, being served the choicest wine,

From the hand of a gazelle with ensnaring eyelids,

عَلى جَدوَلٍ رَيّانَ لا يَكتُمُ القَذى

عَلى جَدوَلٍ رَيّانَ لا يَكتُمُ القَذى

كَأَنَّ سَواقِيهِ مُتونُ المَبارِدِ

كَأَنَّ سَواقِيهِ مُتونُ المَبارِدِ

Beside a brimming stream that hides no speck of debris,

As though its channels were the backs of files.
