قد صرت منا واحدا يا جعفر

قد صرت منا واحدا يا جعفر

لك ما لنا وعليك أن لا تنكر

لك ما لنا وعليك أن لا تنكر

You have indeed become one of us, O Ja‘far.

You have become one of us, O Ja'far

What is ours is yours, and you must not deny it.

What is ours is yours, you must not deny

فاشدد يديك بحبل أحمد واعتصم

فاشدد يديك بحبل أحمد واعتصم

فلقد وثقت بعروة لا تهصر

فلقد وثقت بعروة لا تهصر

So grip Ahmad’s rope with both hands, and hold fast.

Grip tightly the rope of Ahmad and hold fast

For you have trusted in a handhold that cannot be broken.

For you have held to a firm handhold that does not break

وعرفت من عرفت مكارمه الورى

وعرفت من عرفت مكارمه الورى

ولبست منها ذمة لا تخفر

ولبست منها ذمة لا تخفر

And you have come to know one whose noble deeds humankind knows,

And you knew the noble qualities that you knew

And through them you have clothed yourself in protection never violated.

And were clothed with a protection that does not wear away

فاستمطر النعماء منه فانها

فاستمطر النعماء منه فانها

سحب علينا كل عام تمطر

سحب علينا كل عام تمطر

So seek showers of bounty from him, for it is

So draw down blessings from him, for they

Clouds that rain upon us every year.

Are clouds upon us that rain every year

ان المليك بنفسه متجهز

ان المليك بنفسه متجهز

وجيوشه من كل فج تحشر

وجيوشه من كل فج تحشر

Indeed, the king himself is making ready,

Indeed the King himself is preparing

And his armies are being mustered from every mountain pass.

And his armies from every gorge assembling

حتى الجحافل قادها برجالها

حتى الجحافل قادها برجالها

والبائس المحروم من يتأخر

والبائس المحروم من يتأخر

Even the mighty armies he has led with their men,

Even the regiments he led with their men

And wretched and deprived is whoever lags behind.

And the wretched deprived - who among them would lag?

ولأنت أول من دعى في قومه

ولأنت أول من دعى في قومه

فاسرع فحظك حين تسرع أوفر

فاسرع فحظك حين تسرع أوفر

And you are indeed the first summoned among his people.

You were the first among your people to be called

So hasten, for your share is greater when you hasten.

So hurry - your fortune when you hasten is greater

وأكثر من الفرسان واجمع عسكرا

وأكثر من الفرسان واجمع عسكرا

يثني عليك إذا دخلت العسكر

يثني عليك إذا دخلت العسكر

And gather many horsemen, and muster an army;

And increase the horsemen and gather an army

He will praise you when you enter the camp.

That will praise you when you enter the encampment

وإنزل بساحة من نزولك عنده

وإنزل بساحة من نزولك عنده

عز يطول به الرجال ومفخر

عز يطول به الرجال ومفخر

And alight in the courtyard of one with whom your stay

And descend in a place of descent with him

Is honor that raises men high, and a source of pride.

Honor lasts with which men are proud

واطعن برمحك في عداه أمامه

واطعن برمحك في عداه أمامه

طعنا به يثنى عليك ويشكر

طعنا به يثنى عليك ويشكر

And thrust your spear into his foes in his presence,

And stab with your spear in front of him

With thrusts that earn you praise and thanks.

A stab for which he will praise and thank you

إن الشجاعة عنده معدودة

إن الشجاعة عنده معدودة

من جملة النعم التي لا تكفر

من جملة النعم التي لا تكفر

Indeed, courage is counted in his eyes

Indeed, valor with him is counted

Among the blessings that never go unacknowledged.

Among the blessings that do not diminish

ولإهلها في ما لديه مكانة

ولإهلها في ما لديه مكانة

لا ترتقى ومواهب لا تحصر

لا ترتقى ومواهب لا تحصر

And those who possess it have with him a standing

And its people with him have a status

Beyond reach, and gifts beyond counting.

That cannot be surpassed and gifts that cannot be counted

ومن السعادة إن تحرك نحوه

ومن السعادة إن تحرك نحوه

أمر فتفعل طاعة ما تؤمر

أمر فتفعل طاعة ما تؤمر

And it is good fortune if toward him you are moved

And it is good fortune if you go to him

By a command, and so obediently do what you are commanded,

On a matter and you obey what you are ordered

ويراك بين الاولياء محاربا

ويراك بين الاولياء محاربا

اعداءه وقد استقام العيثر

اعداءه وقد استقام العيثر

And he sees you among his allies, fighting

And he sees you among his loyal friends battling

His enemies, while the dust rises upright.

His enemies, having straightened what was bent

فهناك تبلغ منه ما أملته

فهناك تبلغ منه ما أملته

وتقر عينك بالنعيم وتظفر

وتقر عينك بالنعيم وتظفر

Then you will obtain from him what you hoped for,

For there you will attain what you hope from him

And your eye will be gladdened by bliss, and you will triumph.

And your eye will be delighted with bounty and you will triumph
