1. على الطالع الميمون أسست يا قصر

    فأصبح من خدام أبوابك الدهر

    Under an auspicious ascendant you were founded, O palace.

    So Time became one of the servants at your gates.

  2. وباهت بك الأرض السماء وفاخرت

    فكان لمن أصبحت من حزبه الفخر

    And through you the earth vied with the sky and boasted,

    So glory belonged to the one whose side you joined.

  3. هي الدار دارت بالسعود نجومها

    وحف ذرى حافاتها الفتح والنصر

    It is the house whose stars have revolved auspiciously,

    And conquest and victory encircled its lofty edges.

  4. وقيد مرآها النواظر حيرة

    فأشبعت منها حتى ارتوى الفكر

    And the sight of it held gazes captive in wonder,

    So they were sated by it until the mind drank its fill.

  5. رخامية الاركان تبرية الحلا

    مدبجة الارجاء يزهو بها القطر

    Its corners marble, its adornments gold,

    Brocaded throughout its quarters, the land takes pride in it.

  6. يسافر في أطرافها الطرف يجتلى

    محاسن تأبى أن يلم بها الحصر

    The gaze journeys through its reaches, beholding

    Beauties that no enumeration can encompass.

  7. ممنعة فوق السها اسها استوى

    فلا فرقد يسمو إليها ولا نسر

    Impregnable, its foundation has risen above al-Suhā;

    So neither Farqad nor Nasr can rise to it.

  8. لها أفق قد أرج الافق طيبه

    تود به لو تطلع الانجم الزهر

    It has a horizon whose fragrance has perfumed the horizon;

    The radiant stars wish they could rise within it.

  9. على قدر وافي تمام بنائها

    وهلك العدى فالحمد لله والشكر

    As fate ordained, its building's completion coincided

    With the foes' destruction—so praise and thanks be to God.

  10. فها هي للبشرى وللبشر موسم

    إلى بابها تجنى البشائر والبشر

    So here it is, a season for glad tidings and joy;

    At its gate, glad tidings and joy are reaped.
