بالسعد دار نجم هذا الدار

والنعم الطويلة الأعمار

The star of this abode has wheeled in good fortune,

and in long-lived blessings.

فليبشر النازل فيها بالرضا

والنجع في الإِيراد والإِصدار

So let its resident rejoice in contentment,

and success in bringing in and sending out.

ناظرة عين السعود نحوها

قاصرة أكرم بها من دار

The eye of good fortune gazes toward it,

looking nowhere else—how noble an abode!

تسافر الألحاظ في أرجائها

فتنثنى حائرة الأفكار

Glances travel through its expanses,

then thoughts turn back bewildered.

بهو بهي ورواق رائق

ومجلس كالفلك الدوار

A splendid hall and a pleasing arcade,

and a gathering chamber like the revolving firmament.

كأنما على عقوده

عقود عقيان على أبكار

As though upon its arches

were necklaces of pure gold upon maidens.

وبركة صفا ورق ماؤها

يفيض من مر النسيم الجاري

And a pool whose water is clear and delicate,

overflowing at the passing of the coursing breeze.

تستخدم الطير لها فماؤها

مرتب لها على الأطيار

It enlists the birds to serve it, so its water

is provided for it by the birds.

أما تراها فوقها عواكفا

كل يصب الماء من منقار

Do you not see them stationed above it,

each pouring water from a beak?

إن قال غيضي يبست أفواهها

أو قال فيضي فِضن كالإنهار

If he says, 'Subside!' their mouths dry up;

or says, 'Overflow!' they gush like rivers.

وساحة حفت بها مناظر

منظرها يجلو صدا الأبصار

And a courtyard surrounded by vistas,

whose sight clears the rust from the eyes.

رق هواها وجرى نسيمها

وطاب فيها الليل للسمار

Its air is gentle, and its breeze flows,

and the night there is sweet for those who converse by night.

حل بها التوفيق حين حلها

فالتقيا فيها على مقدار

Success settled there when he settled in it,

so the two met there as ordained.

وانهمرت سحب المسرات بها

عليه مثل الوابل المدار

And clouds of joy poured down there

upon him like a sweeping downpour.

وكل يوم ركب نعما طارق

وكل يوم وفد بشر طارى

And every day a caravan of blessings comes calling,

and every day a delegation of gladness arrives anew.

سعادة تخرق كل عادة

وهمة تمضى مضى الإقدار

Good fortune that defies all custom,

and resolve that advances in step with bestowed power.

يهم بالشيء البعيد كونه

فينقضي كاللمح بالإبصار

He sets his mind on a thing far from realization,

and it is accomplished in the blink of an eye.

أسرع ما نمّ لنا القصر الذي

كل القصور عنه في اقصار

How swiftly the palace revealed this to us—

the palace before which all palaces fall short!

فهل سمعتم أن قصرا شامخا

يبنى باسبوع مدا الاعمار

So have you ever heard of a towering palace

built in a week to endure for lifetimes?

الملك لله فهذا خبر

يكتب في غرائب الأخبار

Dominion belongs to God; this is a report

to be recorded among extraordinary accounts.

ما ذاك إلا قدرة ومدد

من الإِله الواحد القهار

That is nothing but power and aid

from God, the One, the All-Subduer.

واعجب من الاسراع لانفراده

بحسنه في أعين النظار

And marvel at the speed, for it stands alone

in its beauty in the eyes of beholders.

من يكن الله ولي عونه

فمن يحاربه إلى مضمار

Whoever has God as the patron who aids him—

then who can challenge him on the racecourse?

واسئل الله دوام ملكه

في نعم صفت من الأكدار

And ask God that his reign endure,

amid blessings free from troubles.
