I sought you, O lord of kings, for a customary kindness

Of yours, through which I was adorned with a necklace of favors.

Because of it, I forgot my family, my home, and my homeland,

And, out of my love for you, left the House and the Sanctuary.

I came seeking it, but whoever I approached said, 'No.'

So I came to you, complaining of their 'No'; so say, 'Yes.'

For you are the one who, were the profession of faith not obligatory,

Would never say 'No,' that enemy of generosity.
