يا بْنَ مَنْ شادَ الْمَعالِي جُودُهُ

يا بْنَ مَنْ شادَ الْمَعالِي جُودُهُ

وَبَنى الْمَجْدَ فَأَعْلى ما بَنا

وَبَنى الْمَجْدَ فَأَعْلى ما بَنا

O son of him whose bounty built the heights of honor,

O son of him whose generosity built the highest ideals,

And who built glory, raising high what he built.

And constructed glory, reaching the greatest heights,

آمَنَ الأُمَّةَ فِي أَيّامِهِ

آمَنَ الأُمَّةَ فِي أَيّامِهِ

كُلَّ خَوْفٍ وَأَخافَ الزَّمَنا

كُلَّ خَوْفٍ وَأَخافَ الزَّمَنا

He kept the nation safe in his days

He brought security to the nation in his days,

From every fear, and struck fear into Time.

Banishing every fear and defying fate's blows,

كُلَّما يَمَّمَ عافٍ رَبْعَهُ

كُلَّما يَمَّمَ عافٍ رَبْعَهُ

عَذُبَ الْمَنْهَلُ أَوْ ساغَ الْجنا

عَذُبَ الْمَنْهَلُ أَوْ ساغَ الْجنا

Whenever a seeker of bounty made for his abode,

Whenever he inclined to a place in peace,

The watering place grew sweet, or the fruit went down easily.

The springs flowed sweet and the meadows flourished,

قَدْ نَحَتْ عَظْمِي خُطُوبٌ لَمْ تَزَلْ

قَدْ نَحَتْ عَظْمِي خُطُوبٌ لَمْ تَزَلْ

تَأْكُلُ الأَحْرارَ أَكْلاً مُمعِنا

تَأْكُلُ الأَحْرارَ أَكْلاً مُمعِنا

Calamities have chiseled away my bones, never ceasing

Misfortunes have gnawed my bones without ceasing,

To devour the freeborn relentlessly.

Consuming the free like a grinding file,

وَأَتَتْنِي بَعْدَها نازِلةٌ

وَأَتَتْنِي بَعْدَها نازِلةٌ

أَنْزَلَتْ فِي ساحَتَيَّ الْمِحَنا

أَنْزَلَتْ فِي ساحَتَيَّ الْمِحَنا

And after them, a calamity came upon me,

After them came a tribulation,

Bringing afflictions down into my two courtyards.

Which pitched its tents in my courtyard of affliction,

وَلأَنْتَ الْيَوْمَ أَوْلى أَنْ تَلِي

وَلأَنْتَ الْيَوْمَ أَوْلى أَنْ تَلِي

كَشْفَها يا بْنَ أَمِين الأُمَنا

كَشْفَها يا بْنَ أَمِين الأُمَنا

And today you are surely best suited to undertake

Today it is you who are most worthy,

Its removal, O son of Amin al-Umana.

To dispel it, O son of the trustee of the secure nation,

فَانْتَهِزْها فُرْصَةً مُمْكِنَةً

فَانْتَهِزْها فُرْصَةً مُمْكِنَةً

قَلَّ ما يُوجَدُ مَجْدٌ مُمْكِنا

قَلَّ ما يُوجَدُ مَجْدٌ مُمْكِنا

So seize it as an opportunity within reach;

Seize the enabled opportunity,

Seldom is glory found within reach.

Rarely is glorious success enabled.
