ما عَلَى فَضْلِكَ ذا مِنْ مُفْضِلِ

ما عَلَى فَضْلِكَ ذا مِنْ مُفْضِلِ

يا أَبا اليُمْنِ سَعِيدَ بْنَ عَلِي

يا أَبا اليُمْنِ سَعِيدَ بْنَ عَلِي

No generous giver surpasses this bounty of yours,

None can match your generosity,

O Abu al-Yumn, Sa‘id ibn ‘Ali.

O Abu Al-Yumn, Sa'eed bin Ali.

مَنْ يَكُنِ مِثْلَكَ فِي الْجُودِ يَكُنْ

مَنْ يَكُنِ مِثْلَكَ فِي الْجُودِ يَكُنْ

غايَةَ الضّارِبِ عِنْدَ الْمَثَلِ

غايَةَ الضّارِبِ عِنْدَ الْمَثَلِ

Whoever is like you in generosity becomes

He who is like you in munificence,

the ultimate model for one who draws a comparison.

Is the epitome when giving is exemplified.

أَنْتَ بَدْرُ التِّمِّ فِي السَّعْدِ إِذا

أَنْتَ بَدْرُ التِّمِّ فِي السَّعْدِ إِذا

ذُكِرَ السَّعْدُ وَشَمْسُ الْحَمَلِ

ذُكِرَ السَّعْدُ وَشَمْسُ الْحَمَلِ

You are the full moon in good fortune—when

You are the full moon of prosperity, when

good fortune is mentioned—and the sun in Aries.

Good fortune is mentioned, and the sun of glory.

مِثْلَ ما كُنِّيتَ أَوْ سُمِّيتَ لا

مِثْلَ ما كُنِّيتَ أَوْ سُمِّيتَ لا

زِلْتَ محْرُوسَ الْعُلى والأَجَلِ

زِلْتَ محْرُوسَ الْعُلى والأَجَلِ

True to your byname or given name, may you never

You have always been, since you were titled,

cease to have your eminence and lifespan safeguarded.

Protected, lofty and sublime.

فابْقَ وَاسْلَمْ واسْمُ وَاسْعَدْ أَبَداً

فابْقَ وَاسْلَمْ واسْمُ وَاسْعَدْ أَبَداً

واعْلُ وافْخَرْ واعْدُ وَاقهَر وَطُلِ

واعْلُ وافْخَرْ واعْدُ وَاقهَر وَطُلِ

So live on, stay safe, rise high, and be happy forever;

So live on and be well, lengthen your life,

and be exalted, take pride, race ahead, conquer, and excel,

Ascend and pride yourself, promise and conquer, seek high status.

ما هَمى غَيْثٌ حَكى بِرَّكَ بِي

ما هَمى غَيْثٌ حَكى بِرَّكَ بِي

وَصَفا عَيْشُ حَكى وُدِّكَ لِي

وَصَفا عَيْشُ حَكى وُدِّكَ لِي

as long as rain pours down, mirroring your kindness to me,

No rain has told me of your righteousness,

and life grows serene, mirroring your affection for me.

Or described to me the pleasure of your friendship.
