We would give ourselves as ransom for you, cupbearer; beauty has clothed you

From your radiant hair-part to your leg.

The sun shines from your hands, and from your mouth

The Pleiades, and the full moon from your necklaces.

And is it not wondrous that you are a full moon,

Full, while your lovers wane away?

An enchantment you are, as you kill and revive

Whomever you wish, through meeting you and parting from you.

You are not of this creation; rather, you are

An angel sent by your Creator.
