أعاد إليك الطرف حد كليل
Radiant of countenance: whenever you behold his face,
Whenever I smell his radiant face
It sends your gaze back to you, its edge blunted.
He returns my gaze though fading fast
كذاlikewise الشمسthe sun مهماwhenever شامهاhe beheld it المرءthe person لمdid not يعدreturn
كذا الشمس مهما شامها المرء لم يعد
وانand even if صحwas sound منهfrom him اللحظthe gaze غيرnot عليلailing
وان صح منه اللحظ غير عليل
So too the sun: whenever a man beholds it, he never returns—
Just as the sun, however long one stares
Even if his sight was sound—free of ailment.
Does not tire, its glance is never past
