فتىa young man واحدٌunique فيin عَصرهِhis age غيرexcept أنَّهُthat he
فتى واحدٌ في عَصرهِ غير أنَّهُ
يقومُhe occupies لراجيهfor whoever hopes in him مقامَthe place of ألُوفِthousands
يقومُ لراجيه مقامَ ألُوفِ
A young man unique in his age, yet he
takes the place of thousands for whoever hopes in him.
وماand not هوhe إلاّbut رحمةُthe mercy of اللهGod مَدَّهَاHe has spread it
وما هو إلاّ رحمةُ الله مَدَّهَا
علىover كلِّevery ملهوفٍdistressed person وكًلِّand every ضعيفِweak person
على كلِّ ملهوفٍ وكًلِّ ضعيفِ
He is nothing but God's mercy, which He has spread
over every distressed soul and every weak one.
وأنفذand he put into effect فيin الأحكامِthe rulings آراءَthe views of فيصلٍa decisive arbiter
وأنفذ في الأحكامِ آراءَ فيصلٍ
لهاthey have فيin قضاياهُhis cases مضاءُthe cutting power of سيوفِswords
لها في قضاياهُ مضاءُ سيوفِ
And in his rulings he has put a decisive arbiter's views into effect;
in his cases they have the cutting power of swords.
فقلso say للياليto the nights عنabout أياديهhis benefactions إنَّهاindeed they are
فقل لليالي عن أياديه إنَّها
حصونيmy fortresses التيwhich اعتدُّهاI count on them وكهوفيand my caves
حصوني التي اعتدُّها وكهوفي
So tell the nights about his benefactions: they
are my fortresses, which I count on, and my caves.
