1. من جاوز القَصد ظلم

    مَن عَف لَم يَخش الندَم

    Whoever goes beyond moderation commits injustice.

    Whoever practices restraint does not fear regret.

  2. مَن تَرَك الحَق عَجز

    مَن خَشي الفَوت انتهز

    Whoever forsakes what is right becomes powerless.

    Whoever fears missing his chance seizes the opportunity.

  3. من صدق الناس حمد

    مَن أَظهَر النصح اعتمد

    Whoever is truthful with people is praised.

    Whoever shows sincerity is relied upon.

  4. من كظم الغَيظ حمل

    مَن أَدمَن السَّعي وَصَل

    Whoever suppresses anger endures it.

    Whoever persists in striving reaches his goal.

  5. مَن خافَ سوء الذكر عَف

    مَن خَشيَ التعنيف كَف

    Whoever fears ill repute practices restraint.

    Whoever fears rebuke holds back.

  6. مالك منه جلهُ

    كان عليك كله

    Whatever is yours in large part,

    is wholly your responsibility.

  7. مَن آثر الحَق سلم

    مَن قَمع النفس غنم

    Whoever favors what is right remains safe.

    Whoever subdues the self gains.

  8. من سالم الناس سلم

    مَن ضيع الحَزم نَدم

    Whoever makes peace with people remains safe.

    Whoever neglects prudence regrets it.

  9. من عدم النصر صَبر

    عاقبة الصبر الظفر

    Whoever lacks support endures patiently.

    The outcome of patience is victory.

  10. من غالب اللَّه غلَب

    مَن حارب الدين حرب

    Whoever contends with God is overcome.

    Whoever wars against religion is despoiled.

  11. مَن عَرف الناس حذر

    مَن صابر الدهر ظَفر

    Whoever knows people is wary.

    Whoever patiently withstands time triumphs.

  12. مَن سَأل الناس مقت

    مَن عاند الحَق كبت

    Whoever begs from people is hated.

    Whoever defies what is right is humbled.

  13. مَن طَلَب المَجد تَعب

    مَن عَرفَ الناس عجب

    Whoever seeks glory grows weary.

    Whoever knows people is astonished.

  14. مَن عَرفَ اللَّه وثق

    مَن طَلَبَ الرزق رُزق

    Whoever knows God trusts Him.

    Whoever seeks sustenance is provided for.

  15. مَن كَرِهَ المَوت امتحن

    مَن اِشتَرى الدون غبن

    Whoever hates death is tested.

    Whoever buys what is inferior is cheated.

  16. مَن شَتَم الناس شتم

    مَن خاصم العَقل خصم

    Whoever insults people is insulted.

    Whoever disputes with reason is defeated.

  17. مَن حقر العلم حقر

    مَن بَذل الجُهد شكر

    Whoever belittles knowledge is belittled.

    Whoever expends effort is thanked.

  18. مَن أَنصَف الناس حمد

    مَن أَخذَ العَفو عبد

    Whoever treats people fairly is praised.

    Whoever takes what is freely given becomes enslaved.

  19. مَن طَلَب الوَرد ورد

    مَن جَد في الأَمر وَجَد

    Whoever seeks the watering-place reaches it.

    Whoever is diligent in a matter finds success.

  20. مَن ساءَهُ القَول صمت

    مَن خَشِيَ الرد سَكَت

    Whoever is distressed by speech falls silent.

    Whoever fears rebuff keeps silent.

  21. مَن آثر المال شقى

    مَن طَلَبَ الخَير وقى

    Whoever puts wealth first is wretched.

    Whoever seeks goodness is protected.

  22. مَن أَظَهر الشَر اِتقى

    مَن طَلَبَ الذكر بَقى

    Whoever displays evil is avoided.

    Whoever seeks remembrance lives on.

  23. مَن هبج الأَفعى لَسَع

    مَن قَطَع الناس قَطَع

    Whoever strikes a viper is bitten.

    Whoever cuts people off is cut off.

  24. مَن شَرِبَ السم هَلك

    مَن كَرِه الجور فَتَك

    Whoever drinks poison perishes.

    Whoever hates oppression strikes ruthlessly.

  25. مَن صَحب الليث عطب

    مَن خالف الرأي شجب

    Whoever keeps company with a lion perishes.

    Whoever disregards judgment comes to grief.

  26. مَن أَظهَر البَغي صرع

    مَن طَلبَ العز قَنع

    Whoever displays aggression is struck down.

    Whoever seeks dignity practices contentment.

  27. مَن عاتب الدَّهر سئم

    من سَخَط الرزق حرم

    Whoever reproaches time grows weary.

    Whoever resents his sustenance is deprived.

  28. مَن مَنعَ العَدل سخط

    مَن تَرَكَ العَقل غلط

    Whoever withholds justice is resented.

    Whoever abandons reason errs.

  29. مَن قَتَل الناس قُتل

    مَن حرم الجُند خذل

    Whoever kills people is killed.

    Whoever deprives the troops is forsaken.

  30. مَن أَمن الدهر وهن

    مَن اِجتَوى المَثوى ظعن

    Whoever feels safe from time grows weak.

    Whoever finds his dwelling disagreeable departs.

  31. مَن حَمد المَرعى نزل

    مَن ضَره الجَهل هزل

    Whoever praises the pasture settles there.

    Whoever is harmed by ignorance grows thin.

  32. مَن أَكرَم الضيف كرم

    مَن ضَيع الجار لؤم

    Whoever honors the guest is noble.

    Whoever neglects the neighbor is base.

  33. مَن راقبَ اللَّه سعد

    مَن عَرفَ الدنيا زهد

    Whoever is mindful of God finds happiness.

    Whoever knows the world renounces it.

  34. مَن نافق الناس نَفق

    مَن خَشيَ اللوم صَدق

    Whoever acts hypocritically toward people wins favor.

    Whoever fears blame speaks truthfully.

  35. مَن خَشيَ الفوت عجل

    مَن أمن اللَّه وَجل

    Whoever fears missing his chance hastens.

    Whoever feels safe from God comes to fear.

  36. مَن طَلَبَ العُمر عَمل

    مَن مَنَع الحَظ كسل

    Whoever seeks long life works.

    Whoever is denied good fortune grows idle.

  37. من باشر النار احترق

    مَن كاس داري وَرفق

    Whoever touches fire is burned.

    Whoever is shrewd acts tactfully and gently.

  38. من زادَ واِزدان حسد

    مَن قصد الناس قصد

    Whoever prospers and gains splendor is envied.

    Whoever seeks out people is sought out.

  39. مَن جَربَ الدَهر عرف

    مَن جَهل الحَق وقف

    Whoever has experienced time understands.

    Whoever is ignorant of what is right comes to a halt.

  40. مَن أَكثر المَدح سخف

    مَن أكثَر الحلم ضعف

    Whoever praises excessively becomes foolish.

    Whoever is too forbearing grows weak.

  41. مَن أَكثر الدعوى اِفتضح

    مَن لزم الحمية صح

    Whoever makes excessive claims is exposed.

    Whoever observes dietary restraint stays healthy.

  42. مَن تاجر اللَّه ربح

    مَن فضح الناس فضح

    Whoever trades with God profits.

    Whoever disgraces people is disgraced.

  43. مَن باشر الحَرب جُرح

    مَن عرف النصح نصح

    Whoever engages in war is wounded.

    Whoever understands sincere counsel counsels sincerely.

  44. مَن اِشتَرى المَدح مدح

    مَن منع الناس اطرح

    Whoever buys praise is praised.

    Whoever withholds from people is cast aside.

  45. من أَكثر المَزح حقر

    مَن صافح الليث عقر

    Whoever jokes excessively is scorned.

    Whoever shakes hands with a lion is mauled.
