يا فقاحَ المِلاح ما لقضبي

كلّ يوم يأتي عليه عصيبُ

كلّ يوم يأتي عليه عصيبُ

O blossoms of the beautiful, what ails my boughs?

O anuses of the beauties, what ails my rod [uncertain reading]?

Each day hardship comes upon it.

Every day that comes upon it is grievous.

إنّ جلدي عميرةض قد براني

فأنا مغرَمٌ سقيمٌ كئيبُ

فأنا مغرَمٌ سقيمٌ كئيبُ

Indeed, my skin—«عميرةض» [corrupt in the source]—has worn me away;

Indeed, my “beating of ʿUmayra” [name garbled] has worn me away.

Thus I am love-stricken, sick, and sorrowful—

So I am enamored, ailing, sorrowful.
