I saw my wife in a dream, holding

my ear, and in her palm was something made of leather:

Crooked at the tip, blackened, with spots upon it,

but its underside was shaped like a foot.

And it stayed in her hands as she struck me

with it, delighting in the rhythm and melody,

until I awoke, the back of my head reddened; and had

the dream lasted longer for the old man of letters, he would have gone blind.
