دَعتكَ دواعي النفس غيباً ومشهداً

فأرعيتَ سمعاً ثم أعطيت مقودا

The soul’s impulses called you, in secret and in the open;

The whisperings of the soul called you unseen and seen

So you lent an ear, then yielded the reins.

So you lent an ear then handed over the reins

دعاء فتحت اليوم بابَ قَبولِهِ

دعاء فتحت اليوم بابَ قَبولِهِ

فأغلقت أبوابَ القَبولِ بهِ غَدا

فأغلقت أبوابَ القَبولِ بهِ غَدا

A call to which you opened the door of acceptance today,

A prayer whose door of acceptance you opened today

And thereby closed the doors of acceptance tomorrow.

You closed tomorrow its doors of acceptance
