جاهد النَّفس جاهداً فإذا ما

جاهد النَّفس جاهداً فإذا ما

فَنِيت عَنكَ فهي عينُ الوجودِ

فَنِيت عَنكَ فهي عينُ الوجودِ

Strive earnestly against the self; then, when

Struggle, oh soul, struggle hard, so when

it has vanished from you, it is the very essence of existence.

You pass away from yourself, that is the essence of existence

وليكُن حُكمكَ المسَدَّد فيها

وليكُن حُكمكَ المسَدَّد فيها

حُكمَ سَعدٍ في قَتله لليهودِ

حُكمَ سَعدٍ في قَتله لليهودِ

And let your rightly guided judgment concerning it be

And let your upright rule over it
