She concealed a passion that persisted amid her sorrows,

And filled her insides with the blaze of her fires.

So, from love, she split open to reveal her seeds,

In longing, laying bare what her concealment had hidden.

A pomegranate, toward which the hands of dew reach,

After she had decayed upon her branches.

So marvel: she has wept tears of agate,

Not from her eye sockets, nor from her branches.
