    تُ من إخوانك الزُهرِ

    Unlike your noble brothers

  3. لئن خست لما ذل

    كَ من فعلك بالنكرِ

    If I lose face due to your actions

    It’s because of your denial

  4. وما أقنعني فِعل

    كَ يا مُختلق العُذرِ

    Your excuses do not convince me

    O fabricator of lies

  5. بنفسي أنت إن سؤتَ

    فلا بدّ من الصبرِ

    If you wrong me

    Patience is inevitable

  6. وإن جرعني الغيظُ

    وإن خشَّنَ بالصدرِ

    Even if rage fills me

    And my chest tightens

  7. ولولا فرقي منك

    لسميتك في الشعرِ

    If not for my attachment to you

    I would have named you in verse

  8. وعنفتك لا آلو

    وإن جزت مدى العذر

    And rebuked you, not gently

    No matter the extent of your excuses

  9. أما تخرجُ من إخلا

    ف ميعادك في العشرِ

    Will you not desist from betrayal

    Of your promised date by ten days

  10. غداً يفطمنا الصوم

    عن الراح الى الفطر

    Tomorrow, fasting weans us

    From comfort to breaking the fast
