نشبي وما جمعت من صفدِ

نشبي وما جمعت من صفدِ

وحويت من سبدٍ ومن لبدِ

وحويت من سبدٍ ومن لبدِ

My wealth and all the gifts I have amassed,

I did not collect what was decayed,

And what I have acquired of hair and wool,

Nor did I gather what was corrupt and spoiled.

هِمَمٌ تقاذفت الهمومُ بها

هِمَمٌ تقاذفت الهمومُ بها

فنزعتُ من بلدٍ إلى بلدِ

فنزعتُ من بلدٍ إلى بلدِ

Are aspirations tossed about by cares;

Cares tossed me around,

So I journeyed from land to land.

So I moved from one land to another.

يا روح من حسمت قناعته

يا روح من حسمت قناعته

سبب المطامع من غدٍ وغدِ

سبب المطامع من غدٍ وغدِ

Oh, the repose of one whose contentment has severed

O soul that is determined and content,

The cord of craving for tomorrow and tomorrow!

The cause of greed is tomorrow and the day after.

من لم يكن للّهِ متهماً

من لم يكن للّهِ متهماً

لم يُمسِ محتاجاً الى أحد

لم يُمسِ محتاجاً الى أحد

Whoever does not distrust God

He who is not blamed for God’s sake

Does not end the day in need of anyone.

Will never need anyone when he is in need.
