I was free, but became enslaved by yearning
For one whose love set me on fire
He has two halves of a rod and palm branch
Adorning his chest are two pomegranates
He whom I cannot see and who cannot see me
Has set up within my eyes an image of hopes
By my soul and his soul
Together through the unseen they converse
We are two people; if you look, we are one soul
And if you test, we blend together
So if I intend or he intends
Something that either began
It is synchronized, whatever comes from him or me
As if I told him and he told me
The flutters of the eyelids, we share
And the stirring of our bodies, we share
