    مطرقٌ من التيه

    عون في تعديه

    A Joseph in beauty, and a Phar—

    —aoh in his transgression.

  3. لا وحق ما أنا من

    عطفه أرجيه

    No—by the sanctity of what I, from

    his affection, hope to receive—

  4. ما الحياةُ نافعةٌ

    لي على تأبيهِ

    life is of no use

    to me in the face of his refusal.

  5. النعيمُ يشغلهُ

    والجمالُ يطغيهِ

    Pleasure occupies him,

    and beauty makes him tyrannical.

  6. فهو غير مكترثٍ

    للذي ألاقيه

    So he is unconcerned

    with what I endure.

  7. تائهٌ تزهده

    في رغبتي فيهِ

    Haughty—made indifferent

    to me by my desire for him.
