1. زائرةٌ زارت على غفلةٍ

    يا حبَّذا الزورَةُ والزائِرَه

    A woman came visiting unexpectedly;

    how delightful the visit and the visitor!

  2. فلم أزل أخدعُها ليلتي

    خديعةَ الساحرِ للساحرَه

    So I kept beguiling her all night,

    as a sorcerer beguiles a sorceress,

  3. حتى إذا ما أذعنت بالرِّضا

    وأنعمت دارت بها الدائره

    until, when she yielded willingly

    and assented, fortune's wheel turned against her.

  4. بتُّ الى الصبحِ بها ساهراً

    وباتت الجوزاء بي ساهرَه

    I stayed awake with her until dawn,

    and al-Jawza stayed awake with me.

  5. أفعل ما شئت بها ليلتي

    وملءُ عيني نعمَةٌ ظاهرَه

    I did with her as I wished all night,

    and a manifest blessing filled my eyes.

  6. فلم نَنَم إلا على تسعةٍ

    من غُلمةٍ بي وبها ثائرَه

    So we did not sleep until after nine bouts,

    from lust raging in me and in her.

  7. سقياً لها لا لأخي شِعرَةٍ

    شِعرَته كالشِّعرة الوافره

    May rain bless her—not the hairy fellow,

    whose pubic hair is like a luxuriant growth.

  8. وبين رجليه له حربةٌ

    مشهورةٌ في حقوِهِ شاهرَه

    And between his legs he has a spear,

    drawn and raised at his loins.

  9. وفي غدٍ تتبعها لحيةٌ

    تلحقه بالكرةِ الخاسره

    And tomorrow a beard will follow it,

    consigning him to a losing return.
