عليَّ وأعفو حسبة وتكرُّما
I shall oblige myself to pardon everyone who has wronged
I shall compel myself to forgive all who have wronged me
me, and forgive, seeking divine reward and out of magnanimity.
And pardon out of nobility and generosity

And make my wealth a shield before my honor,
I shall make my honor above my wealth a protection
even if that leaves me not a single dirham.
Even if that left me penniless

And I shall follow the footsteps of the exalted ones
and acquired goodly virtues from those who came before.
Who attained the heights of virtue before me

Those are my people, the benefactors, endowed with wisdom:
They are my people, the blessed ones of restraint
Banu Amir—ask about them, so that you may know.
The clan of Aamer, so ask and you shall know

When called upon amid calamities, should darkness fall,
When hardships befell, their aid brought light
they shed light by dispelling what had grown dark.
To whatever was darkest

When seated in council, I found them to be
full moons in darkness, and all other people stars.
Stars in the darkest night

If they stood on the pulpit with wisdom to speak
they are the most eloquent ever to speak in exhortation.
None could eloquence match

If they took up their pens in epistle
they are the finest to embroider and ornament the pages.
None wrote better than they

Through their words, pearls have shone forth, and
With their words the truth shone bright
through their judgments, knowledge of sacred law has become firmly established.
By their judgement, sacred law stood firm

Their prayers dispel afflictions when they come

And rain falls from the horizon of the sky
