And one of brilliant white hue, with a black pupil,
With eyes dark as night, bright of hue,
Its eyelids closed at nightfall,
Their lids closed with sleep weighted down,
كذيlike one endowed with دلالcoy charm لمdid not يستطعbe able to bear ارقاsleeplessness

Like a coy beauty unable to endure sleeplessness,
Like a weary child who could not stay awake,
So it slept, while the blossoms kept their vigil.
Who fell asleep though lights kept him awake.

Night and day were both enamored of it,
Day and night beckoned equally,
But it shunned the one and favored the other with affection.
So he turned from one and favored another.

Do not doubt what it holds within:
Do not hesitate over what he contains-
That is the dark core of its lover's heart.
That fair heart of one who created him.

A water lily whose wonders were perfected,
A water lily perfected her wonders-
Neither its form nor its character can be encompassed.
No creature contains his qualities.

Pure of raiment, as though its Maker
A pure garment as though its Maker
Had fashioned it from the Chief Judge's honor:
Were the Judge of judges who created him.

A scion of ʿAbbād, before whom blushed
Descendant of those servants whom
The faces of the rain-laden clouds.
Faces of pouring clouds have masked.

Glory is a horizon; he has become its moon,
Glory's horizon will tomorrow be
And justice a casket that has found its lid in him.
A moon for him, and truth a sealed truth.
