خَلِيليَّ زُورَا قبل شَحطِ النَّوَى هِندَ

خَلِيليَّ زُورَا قبل شَحطِ النَّوَى هِندَ

وَلاَ تَأمَنَا مِن دَارِ ذِي لَطَفٍ بُعدا

وَلاَ تَأمَنَا مِن دَارِ ذِي لَطَفٍ بُعدا

My two friends, visit Hind before separation carries us far away,

My two dear friends, visit before the bending of the branches

and do not think yourselves safe from being far from the dwelling at Dhu Lataf.

And do not feel safe in the abode of the gentle one, out of reach

ولاَ تَعجَلاَ لَم يَدرِ صَاحِبُ حَاجَةٍ

ولاَ تَعجَلاَ لَم يَدرِ صَاحِبُ حَاجَةٍ

أَغَيًّا يُلاَقِي فِي التَّعَجُّلِ أَم رُشدَا

أَغَيًّا يُلاَقِي فِي التَّعَجُّلِ أَم رُشدَا

And do not hurry: one pursuing a need does not know

Do not be hasty, for one with a need does not know

whether in haste he will encounter error or right guidance.

Whether in haste he will find guidance or straying

ومُرَّا عَلَيهَا بَارَكَ الله فِيكُم

ومُرَّا عَلَيهَا بَارَكَ الله فِيكُم

وَإن لَم تَكُن هِندُ لِوَجهَيكَما قَصدَا

وَإن لَم تَكُن هِندُ لِوَجهَيكَما قَصدَا

And pass by her—may God bless you—

And pass by her, may God bless you

even if Hind is not the destination you two are heading for.

Though Hind was not your destination or intent

وَقُولاَ لَهَا لَيسَ الضَّلالُ أَجَازَنَا

وَقُولاَ لَهَا لَيسَ الضَّلالُ أَجَازَنَا

ولَكنَّنَا جُزنَا لِنَلقَاكُمُ عَمدَا

ولَكنَّنَا جُزنَا لِنَلقَاكُمُ عَمدَا

And tell her: "It was not losing our way that made us pass by;

And tell her, "It was not losing our way that took us past,

rather, we passed by deliberately to meet you."

But we went out of our way to meet with you on purpose."

غَداً يكثُرُ الباكُونَ مِنَّا وَمِنكُمُ

غَداً يكثُرُ الباكُونَ مِنَّا وَمِنكُمُ

وتَزدَادُ دارِي مِن دِيَارِكُمُ بُعدا

وتَزدَادُ دارِي مِن دِيَارِكُمُ بُعدا

Tomorrow those who weep among us and among you will grow in number,

Tomorrow there will be many weeping amongst us and you

and my dwelling will grow farther from your dwellings.

And the distance between my abode and yours will grow
