  1. قَد طَالَ شَوقِي وَعَادَني طَرَبِي

    مِن ذِكِر خَودٍ كَريمَةِ الحَسَبِ

    Long has my yearning lasted, and my rapture has returned,

    From remembering a tender maiden of noble lineage:

  2. غَرّاءُ مِثلُ الهِلاَلِ صُورَتُه

    أَو مِثل تمثالِ صُورَةِ الرُّهُبِ

    Radiant, like the crescent moon in form,

    Or like a figure in the monks’ icon.
