And the noblest speech is what I say and he hears.

Like musk, whose imprisoned portion still diffuses fragrance.

The generous man can be beguiled by anything.

A nobility from his own soul interceded with you,

Sparing those in need any other intercessor.

Like a sword, smooth to the touch, yet cutting.

A noble woman's son is one who harms and benefits.

He holds both thunderbolts and pouring rains.

Of his distant goal—all four winds.

The awe-inspiring lion scorns a coat of mail.

Like forelegs among their blood-dyed forelegs.

Like scattered clouds whose lightning flashes are gleaming swords.

There, like the lean-haunched, bare-fanged wolf.

Until the swift, full-grown steeds stumbled over them.

Lies a sea whose waves drown whoever enters?

Were the best defended and most impregnable across both horizons,

The mountain would sink, while he, the loftier summit, rose.

Where, beside you, even the stars have no place:

And kingship has given you the slack of its reins.
