أَباAbu (father of) صالِحٍSalih أَنتَyou are الَّذيthe one whose سَيبُbounty of كَفِّهِhis hand
يَسِحُّpours كَماjust as سَحَّpoured الغَمامُthe clouds المُثَجَّجُpouring copiously
Abu Salih, you are he whose hand's bounty
pours as the rain-laden cloud pours,
لِيثبِتَto establish أَركانَthe pillars of العَشِيرَةِthe clan بَعدَماafter
تَهَدَّمَcollapsed مِنهاof it المُشَمخِرُthe towering part المُبَرَّجُthe turreted one
to steady the pillars of the clan after
its towering, turreted stronghold had fallen.
وَنُبتَand you stood مَناباًin the stead عَنof أَخِيكَyour brother تَهُزُّهُyou stir him
كَشُكرِكَlike your gratitude فيin أَكفانِهِhis shrouds وَهوَwhile he is مُدرَجُwrapped
You have taken your brother's place, stirring him
as your gratitude does, though he lies wrapped in his shrouds.
وَإِنَّكَand indeed you are لِلأَقصَينَfor the most distant ذُخرٌa reserve وَعُدَّةٌand a safeguard
فَكَيفَso how much more لِذِيfor one whose لَحمٍflesh بلَحمِكَwith your flesh يُمزَجُis mingled
Even for the most distant, you are a reserve and a safeguard;
how much more for one whose flesh is mingled with your flesh!
عَلِيٌّ'Ali وَمَحمُودٌand Mahmud سَواءٌalike وَصالِحٌand Salih

'Ali, Mahmud, and Salih are as one,
like a noble steed with neck, mane, and withers.
فَزِدهُمso give them more جَميلاًkindness مِنof جَميلَكَyour kindness إِنَّهُمfor they
إِذاwhen ماemphatic particle عَراbefalls خَطبٌa calamity وَلَجَّجتَand you plunge in لَجَّجُواthey plunge in
Grant them still more of your gracious kindness, for they,
when disaster strikes and you plunge in, plunge in with you.
وَقَدand indeed شاعَspread abroad فيthrough الآفاقِthe horizons ماwhat أَنتَyou فاعِلٌdo

What you do has spread through all horizons,
and Qays and Madhhij have praised your bounty.
