ذَهَبَت بلذَّتِها الفُرَص

ذَهَبَت بلذَّتِها الفُرَص

وَبَقيتَ تَشرَقُ بالغُصَص

وَبَقيتَ تَشرَقُ بالغُصَص

Opportunities have gone, taking their pleasure with them.

The chances for pleasure have gone

And you are left choking on grief.

And you remain shining through anguish

وَخَرَجتَ عن حدِّ الدِّيا

وَخَرَجتَ عن حدِّ الدِّيا

نةِ في العَزائمِ والرُّخَص

نةِ في العَزائمِ والرُّخَص

And you strayed beyond the bounds of

And you have exceeded proper bounds in determination and concessions

religion, in binding obligations and dispensations.

And you continued to aspire for deliverance, yet none like you was delivered

وَظِللتَ تطمعُ في الخَلا

وَظِللتَ تطمعُ في الخَلا

صِ وليس مِثلَكَ مَن خَلَص

صِ وليس مِثلَكَ مَن خَلَص

And you kept hoping for

And you dyed yourself hunting the youths, yet none of them were hunted

deliverance, yet those who have escaped are not like you.

So strike the years in regret for the hunting is past

وَخضبت تَقتَنِصُ الشَّبا

وَخضبت تَقتَنِصُ الشَّبا

بَ وليس مِمَّا يُقتَنَص

بَ وليس مِمَّا يُقتَنَص

And you dyed your hair, hunting for

And today you thirst above what you did not account for in thrift

youth, though it is not something that can be caught.

فَلتَقرَعنَّ السِّنَّ مِن

فَلتَقرَعنَّ السِّنَّ مِن

نَدَمٍ فَقَد فاتَ القَنَص

نَدَمٍ فَقَد فاتَ القَنَص

So you shall surely gnash your teeth in

regret, for the quarry has slipped away.

واليومَ تَظمأُ فَوقَ ما

واليومَ تَظمأُ فَوقَ ما

لم تَحتَسِبهُ مِنَ الخَمَص

لم تَحتَسِبهُ مِنَ الخَمَص

And today you thirst, on top of

the hunger you had never foreseen.
