وعزمك أمضى الضاربين ذُبابا
Your right hand showers more lavishly than any rain-cloud;
Your right hand makes clouds rain generously
And your resolve has the keenest sword-tip among strikers.
And your resolve strikes down enemies like flies

And you are the widest-reaching of men in bounty and lordliness,
You are the tallest of men and most majestic
And the purest of them in origin and lineage.
And the most fragrant, purest and excellent

And the foremost of them in leveling spearpoints on the day of battle,
On the day of battle you are the fiercest in anger
And the one whose domain is lushest on the day of giving.
And on the day of giving the most generous

An upright man's testimony, showing no favoritism with such words—
Your benevolence needs no other witness
Save that perhaps the cloud has shown favoritism.
Except for clouds which generously rain

You settled in the abode of kingship, then made it your home,
You stayed in the abode of kings then settled it
As the fierce lion inhabits a forest.
As a lion settles the thorny jungle

You gripped it with glory and prey
With thrusts and blows that drove the enemy from it.
A warrior who drove away harm and combat

And made in it streams flow for the blossoms
And they inscribed [unclear word] a book of generosity.
And pages inscribed with generosity

مجاملةً هاقد شهدت وغابا
They say the rain-cloud's downpour resembles you,
They say Al-Muzain speaks highly of you
Out of courtesy: behold, you were present while it was absent.
Out of courtesy - though absent you witnessed it

And how many crises engulfed the land in misery
Did it ever take your bounty's place in such times?
Did your bounty in them ever run out?

Your two hands rained gold upon them amid that distress,
Your hands intended generosity upon them
While its hands begrudged a sprinkling of light rain.
While their hands were too stingy to scatter

And if swords possessed your resolve, they would never glance off,
If swords had your resolve, sheaths would not exist
Nor would a sword-belt hang a scabbard at the waist.
Nor belts tied around waists

Glory envies your greatness and wishes
To your name, love-struck and joyous at heart.
To belong to your name, hearts flutter in passion

And you have never ceased pleasing God in defense of His faith,
You still please God defending His religion
With a missive through which raging lions are hoped for.
With angels hoped for when lions roar in anger

When folded, it is battle tumult and clouds of dust,
When folded it becomes compact, bound tight
And when unfolded, it is sword-edges and spears.
And when unfurled, becomes homes and ruins

You are but the guarantor of victory wherever
You raid for plunder, plunder is granted you.
You ventured, gaining spoils when you swooped down voraciously

The desert's wild beasts to his aid, they would answer.
For its victory, even beasts of prey would answer

The greatest king is one shaded by you though
Dust his foot has trodden, and his stirrup.

May a rain-cloud from your palm's bounty water Aleppo,
A land you did not rain on with your generosity
Pouring there whenever the rain-clouds fail to pour.
Will not get rain even when clouds pour heavily

You had slashed clouds above them with lightning.

Pouring bounty and punishment upon them.
Overflowing upon them relentlessly and mightily
