Your noonday rest is beneath the shadows of lofty lances,
Your dwelling is below lofty crags

Your home atop the steeds' galloping

You swagger in a shirt of gleaming mail,
You flaunt in a silken shirt
And stride proudly in a mantle of sword-straps.
And prance about in a cloak of fleece
كَأَنَّكَas though you were لِلْحُروبِof the wars رَضيعُa suckling ثَدْيٍa breast

As though you were a suckling at the breast of war,
As though for war you were a suckling babe
Which nourished you on every grievous calamity.
That every cunning wolf did feed
