The whiteness of gray hair has appeared upon my sideburns.

And can night exist without day?

And reason clothed me in a new robe,

and stripped me of the borrowed robe.

I drank the blackness of the one with the whiteness of the other,

so I exchanged the turban for the veil.

And I did not make a conditional sale of love,

nor reserve in it an option to rescind.
