O flash of lightning amid the clouds,

Not upon her, but upon you be peace.

Indeed, in the howdahs is a secluded woman,

Her face rends the veil of darkness.

She deems estrangement lawful for herself,

And regards union as forbidden to her.

Why grieve for a dwelling left deserted,

And for a people scattered after union?

Your remembrance of what has already passed is but

Folly, like the telling of a dream.
