Had I wished, I would have challenged passionate longing and love to a wager,
And had I wished, I would have wagered with longing and love,
and, even at two hundred, set [them] racing through delights;
And raced amid pleasures for a stake of two hundred,

وأسبلتُ من ثوبِ الشَّباب وللصَّبا

عليَّ رداءٌ مُعْلمُ الطَّرفينِ
and from passion’s garment—youth’s own—I would have let fall
And let part of youth's robe trail, with youthful ardor's
over me a robe adorned at both ends.
Mantle upon me, adorned at both edges.
