By God, what a king is ʿAbd al-Rahim!
God be praised for ʿAbd al-Raḥīm—what a king!
Beyond him, the eyes find no sight worth beholding.
Beyond him, the eyes have nowhere to alight.
كأنَّas though بابَthe gate السماءِof heaven منfrom يدهِhis hand

It is as though the gate of heaven, by his hand,
As though the gate of heaven, through his hand,
stands open to all humankind.
