My fetter is with the departing one.

My hands locked in farewells

ومن أبى نفارق

ومن أبى نفارق

إن تقبلوا نعانق

إن تقبلوا نعانق

And whoever refuses, we forsake.

Whoever refuses to part

If you advance, we embrace you;

We will embrace if you accept

أو تدبروا نفارق

فراق غير وامق

فراق غير وامق

Or if you retreat, we leave you—

Or we will leave if you deliberate

A parting without love.

A separation not without tears

هل من كريم عاشق

هل من كريم عاشق

يحمي عن العوانق

Is there a noble lover

Who will defend the maidens?

To protect from harms

والمسك في المفارق

And musk is in the hair-partings,
