    At al-Bagh Mosque is a pool with a waterspout.

    It empties out the water in a gush, pouring profusely.

    It burdens itself far beyond its capacity,

    until the strain almost lays it low.

    والبئرُ تَرْجُفُ منه وهو سَلاّبُ

    It seeks to sweep away all that is in the pool;

    and the well trembles at it, and it is a relentless plunderer.

    Small in body, insistent in its generosity,

    it offers bounty, ever running and leaping.

    If called upon, it quivers with eagerness as it gives,

    for it eagerly seeks a great reward.
