1. هذا مكانٌ به الإقبال معهودُ

    والفضل والحسن معلوم ومشهودُ

    This is a place where good fortune is familiar,

    And excellence and beauty are known and witnessed.

  2. في طالع السعد قد شِيدت دعائمه

    لذاك قد راق في الأبصارِ تشييدُ

    Its pillars were raised under an auspicious ascendant,

    So its construction has delighted the eyes.

  3. بناء حسنٍ يروق الطرف منظره

    ويبهر اللب في علياه تمجيدُ

    A beautiful building whose appearance delights the eye,

    And praise of its lofty heights dazzles the mind.

  4. له حدود بلطف الشكل قد نظمت

    وما له في صفات الحسن تحديدُ

    Its bounds have been arranged with grace of form,

    Yet its qualities of beauty have no limit.

  5. بنيانه محكمُ الإتقان منتسق

    كالعقد قد زانه نظم وتنضيدُ

    Its structure is impeccably crafted and harmonious,

    Like a necklace, it is adorned by order and arrangement.

  6. لا غرو إن يممت كل الأنام له

    وورد مغناه أضحى وهو مورودُ

    No wonder if all humankind turns toward it,

    And its abode’s watering place has become frequented.

  7. فالفضل والمجد والإسعاد حلّ بهِ

    والأنس والبشر والإفضال والجودُ

    For excellence, glory, and the bestowal of joy have settled there,

    And fellowship, cheerfulness, beneficence, and generosity.

  8. أنشا أبو يوسف مبناه حين وفى

    محمد وهو بين الناس محمودُ

    Abu Yusuf erected its structure when there came

    Muhammad, who is praised among the people.

  9. ويوم ميلاده أهدى البشير لنا

    صفواً فلا وقفةٌ في أنه عيدُ

    And on the day of his birth, the bearer of good news gave us

    Pure joy—so there is no doubt that it is a feast-day.

  10. لذاك أنشدت مؤرخة

    هذا البناء بحسن الصفو مسعودُ

    Thus I recited, recording the date:

    This building is blessed with the beauty of serenity.
