عدا عليك القطارُ بالعَجلِ

عدا عليك القطارُ بالعَجلِ

فكان فيها نهايةُ الأجَلِ

فكان فيها نهايةُ الأجَلِ

The train assailed you with its wheels,

The train passed you in haste

And in them lay the end of your allotted life.

And so ended your life

غلا من الحقد صدرهُ وغدت

غلا من الحقد صدرهُ وغدت

عيناهُ محمرّتين كالشُّعَل

عيناهُ محمرّتين كالشُّعَل

Its breast boiled with hatred, and

His chest boiled with hatred

Its eyes turned red like flames.

His eyes turned red like embers

نافستَهُ فاستشاط من غضبٍ

نافستَهُ فاستشاط من غضبٍ

وانتثلت من جعبةِ الحيلِ

وانتثلت من جعبةِ الحيلِ

You rivaled it, so it flared with anger,

You competed with him so he flew into a rage

And you drew forth from the quiver of stratagems.

And unleashed his bag of tricks
