ولقد ذكرتك والخطوب دوائر

حولي كما دارَ السوار على اليدِ

And indeed I remembered you while calamities circled

And I remembered you while troubles circled around me

Around me, as a bracelet circles the hand.

As a bracelet turns around the wrist

والنار في البركانِ شب ضرامها

والطرف طوّاف بنا لا يهتدي

And the fire within the volcano blazed up,
