أنزهُ لحظَيْ المحبوب مِن أن

يكون عليهما أدنى اعتراضِ

I hold the beloved’s two glances above

I absolve the moments with my beloved from any

having the slightest reproach laid upon them.

Objection falling on them

فإنهما وإن قتلا مراضٌ

فإنهما وإن قتلا مراضٌ

وقد رُفع الجُناح عن المراضِ

وقد رُفع الجُناح عن المراضِ

For though they have killed, they are ailing,

For even if they have killed ailments

and blame has been lifted from the ailing.

Wings have been lifted from the ailing

على أنْ ليس في هذا قصاصٌ

على أنْ ليس في هذا قصاصٌ

فقد كان القتال على تَراضِ

فقد كان القتال على تَراضِ

Moreover, there is no retribution in this,

Moreover, there is no retaliation in this

for the fighting was by mutual consent.

For the killing was by mutual consent
