He gave me wine to drink from his mouth's saliva—

A gazelle with whom the ardent lover's heart was smitten.

And he approached, swaying, supple as a bough,

And greeted me with his downy cheek and what adjoins it.

And spent the night embracing me, cheek to cheek,

And bestowed union on the one who longed for it.

And revived a soul that had melted with passion—

A beauty without equal among humankind.

And the full moon spent the night watching us,

And that was because he was among those who envied him.

And I fear he will reveal what he saw.

Ask him not to tell tales about his brother.
